Hikes and campouts

We love adventures. Roughly one outing a month — Mori Point, Angel Island, Mount Sutro, San Bruno Mountain — plus three campouts a year.

Traditions

The Derby and the Regatta

A block of pine, four wheels and a four-lane track in March. The October Regatta runs on balsa boats and electric fans, with more awards for design than for speed.

Two Saturdays collecting for the food bank, a morning clearing Ocean Beach, flags at the Presidio for veterans, and the odd look inside a fire station.

Pack 345 prides itself on welcoming all eligible scouts — boys and girls entering kindergarten through 5th grade. Our members come from all across San Francisco, Daly City and South San Francisco.

A Pack 345 tradition

Fifty miles earns you a hiking stick.

We have a special tradition in Pack 345: once a cub has hiked 50 “Pack Miles” they are awarded a Pack 345 hiking stick.

Great mementos of the hiking miles they’ve already done, and a good reminder of the miles ahead of them. Self-guided routes count too.

Getting started

Four steps, and you’re in.

Scouts join at any grade, any point in the year. No prior experience needed.

    Visit first

    Come to a pack meeting, a hike or a campfire and meet the families.

  2. 02

    Fill out the application

    One online form registers your scout with the BSA and with Pack 345.

  3. 03

    Pay your pack dues

    $145 a scout, separate from the BSA registration fee. Covers badges, awards, insurance and program costs.

  4. 04

    Get a uniform

    Bought once, at the Scout Shop. The Class B pack t-shirt comes with your first year of dues.

Everyone is welcome

“A Scout is Brave. We will continue to bravely face any form of discrimination that threatens the diversity and inclusivity of Pack 345.”

In 2013 — two years before the national organization changed course — the parents of Pack 345 wrote to the BSA National Council rejecting its ban on LGBTQ scouts and leaders, and adopted our own Statement of Non-Discrimination. We have reaffirmed it ever since.

No geographic, gender, race, religious or sexual-orientation restrictions. If cost is a barrier, tell us — that conversation stays confidential.
