Is Pack 345 a religious pack?

Scouting nationally has a “duty to God” line in its oath, and packs across the country are often chartered by or meet inside religious institutions. So families quite reasonably ask whether Pack 345 comes with a particular faith attached. It doesn’t.

Like the Cub Scouts program nationally, we embrace scouts, parents and families whatever their religious beliefs — and whatever their lack of them. We are very intentionally open to all; you can read more about that here.

We believe religion is best handled in discussions within the family unit, between the Akela and the scout. So we don’t discuss religious topics at pack or den meetings, and no scout is ever asked about their family’s beliefs.

The Religious Emblems program

If your family does follow a religion, your scout can research the Religious Emblem for their faith, earn it, and wear the square knot on their uniform. Like most such programs it is entirely optional, and it is organized outside the pack by your own religious community rather than by us.
