Getting started

Join Pack 345

We welcome every kid entering kindergarten through 5th grade — boys and girls, from anywhere in the city and down the Peninsula. Scouts can join at any grade, at any point in the year.

Every Cub Scout pack has a different personality, based on its size and the interests of its members. We encourage all potential families to shop around and find the pack that best meets their needs.

You can visit before you join

Any pack meeting, hike or campfire. The calendar lists what’s next, or email info@pack345sf.org with your scout’s name and grade and we’ll tell you which den they’d join and where to meet.

What it costs

Two payments, and one one-time purchase:

BSA & council registration — $242
Paid directly to Scouting America when you fill out the online application. This is the national and Golden Gate Area Council fee, not ours.
Pack dues — $145 per scout
Covers badges, awards, program supplies, insurance, and your scout’s first Class B t-shirt and neckerchief.
A uniform
Bought once, at the Scout Shop. See what you need.

We believe every child should have the opportunity to be a Scout. If this money is a hardship for your family, let us know — we handle it with complete confidentiality.

Signing up, step by step

  1. Fill out the youth application online. That link goes straight to Pack 345. Enter your information (the parent) first — you’ll add your scout later in the flow. The application collects the national and council registration fee at the end.
    Already have a my.scouting.org account from another pack? Don’t start a new application — email us first for the transfer instructions.
  2. Send your pack dues. $145 per scout, by Zelle to pack345sf@gmail.com (the name is “Cub Scout Pack 345”), or by check made out to Cub Scout Pack 345 handed to your den leader.
  3. Get a uniform and a rank handbook from the Scout Shop. Our uniform guide →
  4. Log in to ScoutBook with the login from step one. It’s how we email the pack and track advancement — add every parent who should get pack email. Check your spam folder at first.
  5. Subscribe to the pack calendar. Instructions here.
  6. Fill out the Family Talent Survey so we learn what the grown-ups in your family are good at.
  7. Complete parts A and B of the Annual Health and Medical Record and bring it to the next meeting on paper. Part A is the important one.
    Please don’t email us completed medical forms — hand them over in person.
